Biofuel is in one respect the oldest form of man-made fuel in the world; long before industry boomed and the industrial period began, biological organic matter was the cheif source material for fuels. It was only until the relatively more powerful use of fossil fuels became dominant that biofuel found its admirers dwindling; in the age of industry, it has suffered relatively low popularity, though that point stands for most alternatives to fossil fuels, which is the source material for over 80% of annual energy production across the world.

With the rising interest in climate change affecting governments, individuals and the world’s media, though, fossil fuels are seemingly on the decline; whilst more than three quarters of energy production has conistently come from the source for a number of years, this has gone hand in hand with dangerous levels of carbon emissions, of which it is reported that fossil fuels contribute more than 20 billion tonnes anually. With experts suggesting that global natural resources can only induce half of that figure, and global warming increasingly becoming a world concern, investment into alternative energy has risen by over 140% in the two years.

Of these alternative energy types, biofuel is one of the most prominent, and it seems that man-made fuels have come full circle. Though production of the fuel is substantially lower than solar power and even hydroeletricity, it remains one of the most important examples of alternative energy.

And indeed, research into the field has reaped rewards, with new developments granting the industry a potentially greater fuel efficiency.

Experts have now suggested that the use of a bug that thrives on detritus will increase the speed at which the original biological matter is broken down and converted into fuel. It will originally be used in the production of ethanol, but it is hoped that the bug can increase efficiency of biofuels across the industry. Indeed it is beleived that the bug can also increase then range of material included in the conversion process; more hardy, it is beleived to be able to break down tougher plant and animal life that current conversion techniques cannot.

It will certainly strengthen the case for a return to biofuel as renewable energy types gain momentum, and it could perhaps do with the positive press after some controversial statistics have begun an increasingly polemical debate on the ethical standards of biofuels; the World Bank reported that the consumption of crops across the world for biofuels has resulted in a rise of 75% in world food prices.

The debate does not simply centre around economics. On their website, Friends of the Earth have questioned the actual environmental impact of biofuel production, claiming that they could actually produce more green house gases than the process reduces; it is generally argued that CO2 emissions from biofuels are offset by the consumption of carbon during the source supply’s lifetime, but the orginsation claims that the combined energy cost of planting, production, conversion and transport negates the theory.

On a similar agenda as the World Bank, they take the rising food price to be an indication that biofuel production could directly affect food supply levels for some of the earth’s most poverty stricken populations.

Small Businesses Doing Little to Save Themselves From “Fuel Poverty”

An independent survey commissioned by Electricity4Business, an electricity supplier targeting small and medium-sized enterprises, has found that despite fuel prices doubling in the past year, businesses are doing little to cut their energy bills.

With energy prices on the rise month on month for the past 22 months and wholesale costs now double what they were last year, households and businesses are paying more than ever for gas and electricity. As a result, a growing number of people are living in what the media and government have termed “fuel poverty”, a new buzzword to describe those spending more than 10% of their income on fuel bills. But while the focus has largely been on pensioners and families, small and mid-sized businesses are also feeling the pinch.

To find out how hard businesses are being hit and what they are doing to cut their fuel bills, Electricity4Business recently commissioned an independent, nationwide survey of SMEs’ energy usage. The findings are worrying: many small businesses are actually in a worse state than consumers. Almost one in five small companies polled now suffer from fuel poverty with energy bills making up their second biggest cost.

“Traditionally, fuel bills have not always been at the top of the agenda for SMEs and owners with little time on their hands have been happy to assume that prices are comparable across the board,” says Graham Paul, Sales and Marketing Director of Electricity4Business, an independent supplier of cheap electricity competing with the UK’s six major energy suppliers. “Increasingly, however, small businesses are being forced to reassess their attitude to fuel costs. A sandwich bar with several refrigerators used to paying an annual £1,800 for electricity will have to sell a lot more sandwiches to meet this year’s electricity bill of £3,600.”

So while increased fuel costs are eating into profits, what are businesses doing to cut their bills? The answer, according to the survey, is very little. Some 18% polled say they simply “pay the bills” and almost a third do not understand the breakdown of their electricity bill.

More worryingly still, the survey showed that over half of businesses owners have never read the small print of their electricity contracts. According to Paul, this makes them vulnerable to exploitation, giving the “big six” energy suppliers free rein to hike prices and lock customers into expensive long-term contracts.

Jonathan Elliott of B2B comparison website MakeItCheaper.com agrees: “By understanding their contracts and benefiting from the support available from alternative suppliers and industry bodies, businesses can reduce the financial impact of high energy bills.”

As one of these alternative suppliers, Electricity4Business positions itself as the champion of the small business - not only by offering fair and transparent pricing, but also by providing advice to customers on energy efficiency. “Sadly, our survey shows, we still have a long way to go to convince businesses that there is a cheaper way. MLM Training- The 4 Secrets of Discouragement Management

Feel Like Giving UP?

As a Leader in your company, you are going to find there are times that you and your folks can get a little discouraged, or in some instances, a lot discouraged, and that requires what we at DFTI call “Discouragement Management”.

You MUST be able to get your people as well as yourself back on track and out of the slack.

How do you do that?

It starts with an understanding of what discouragement really is, and what creates it, and then what to do to get rid of it, and ALL Leaders need to know this.

First off, discouragement is simply an emotion that replaces courage, or the will to continue.

And just like the words displace, distrust, or dislike, this emotion creates the opposite of what once was..it is the Silent, Deadly Thief in a Distributors life, and you must know how to handle it.

There are basically 5 things that create discouragement in this business, and all else revolves around them:

1) Questioning yourself.

All discouragement starts with questioning yourself, conciously, or subconciously..those deadly words -”Can I really Do this?” and it echoes in their heart.

2) Lack of Results.

This is a biggie. You can eject yourself from this business with no results. And this starts with questioning you, which sabotages your actions, which cripples your results.

3) Expectations too high.

This is done almost daily in this industry. The new person does not yet have the skillset to build a million dollar business, but expects to, and when it does not happen quickly, they think they cannot do this business.

4) Listening to the Wrong People.

This can discourage quickly, as people that the new distributor knows becomes negative and the distributor is not

inoculated to fend off the arrows. (This is a Must!)

5) Loss of a Vision OnFire.

People do this business to Increase, Empower, or Improve something in their life. All Leaders know this. After you have been in a while, you can lose the Fire for your Vision, because slowly, silently, Doubt has crept in, created by distractions, or Lack of Focus, or lack of Empowering Relationships…growing into a Discouragement Tumor, then Cancer.

ok….What can we do to battle this?

1) First off, understand that most Discouragement is caused by Set Backs in the Distributors Heart.What can create these Set Backs? We have found that most are caused by one thing:

Communication Errors.

We get paid to do one thing –Communicate with people! And when Set Backs happen, most can be traced to the communication power (or lack of it) in the new person’s effort. Sit down with the new person, (or your upline if you are down and out), and walk through the Prospecting with them to see if they have enough folks to talk to.

Go through how they are contacting people and listen live as they do it to see where the breakdown is. Take notes. Listen to their Presentation, and see where the breakdown is, as well as the Getting the Decision, and handling objections.

Somewhere in there, you will find the problem, I promise. Whether it is too weak communication, non-conviction communication, lack of enough communication, too much communication, or too strong communication, you will find the glitch.

And do not forget the “inner communication” within ourselves as we speak to others…If that is negative, so goes the appointment.

2) Have Home Office call the Down Distributor (someone of notariety) and chat with the distributor to encourage them.

A little ‘Special Attention” has refired many down folks into SuccessInfernos! Also have a Top Earner call them as well and tell the Distributor about their own hard times and challenges..

3) Micro-Event a day.

What is that? Sit down with the new distributor, and make a list of easy, small actions you KNOW will be successful ( 5 phone calls, 5 letters out, 5 new prospects, etc) and celebrate their efforts and small successes. They MUST get back to

expecting Success, no matter how small, through micro-events.

4) Say the 4 Power Words.

Over and Over and Over, say the Most Powerful Words In Downline Building..

I BELIEVE IN YOU! (Do you know how long it has been for most people since they have heard those words? YEARS!)

This is what we call “Battered Heart FirstAid”.

WARNING: Some folks will become discouraged and when you try to help, will become almost co-dependent.

Always say ‘I cannot and will not do this Business For You, for that would cripple you. So I need to find out what is wrong, and correct it..so you can do this in a more Powerful Way..”

How to Build an MLM Downline and Make Money in MLM

To build your network marketing or MLM business, you need to do two things: generate leads and convert those leads into members of your downline.

The bottom line is that to make serious money in the MLM network marketing industry, you need to learn how to “close” your leads and recruit them into your opportunity.

This is a very important point for many network marketers, especially new people, since most are not trained salespeople and find it difficult to pick up the phone and call a prospect to try to “sell” them on their MLM opportunity.

The article will cover the two most common methods of converting leads into team members for the network marketing industry: “active closing” and “passive closing”.

Active closing involves directly selling a prospect on joining your network marketing opportunity, either over the phone or in person.

Important points here are:

* overcoming objections

* learning why the prospect wishes to become involved in a home-based business and then appealing to their emotional “triggers”

* moving the prospect towards making a decision to join your network marketing opportunity

Since this method requires sales skills, it is often advantageous to enlist the help of an experienced salesperson, such as your sponsor or another member of your upline.

This can be accomplished by using techniques such as 3 way calling.

The downside of active closing is that often a person will feel pressured into making a decision, join your company, and then experience buyers’ remorse.

These individuals will simply never participate in the business, and eventually drop out.

This does not help you build your business at all.

For this reason, passive closing may be a preferable alternative for sponsoring more new reps.

Passive closing is a process where you allow a prospect to make their own decision to join your company, as opposed to “talking them into it”, as in active closing.

For passive closing to be effective, it is essential that you have marketing tools in place to do the selling for you:

* a high-converting lead capture page

* an autoresponder series that provides valuable information to the prospect every 2-3 days

Passive closing not only involves allowing the prospect to make their own decision to join your opportunity, but something much more important:

It attracts people to you because you position yourself as a leader.

Let’s look at how passive closing employs the powerful process of attraction marketing:

First of all, when you generate a network marketing lead, your thoughts should center on whether or not the prospect is qualified to join your business.

How do you qualify the prospect?

1. Call them and introduce yourself.

This lets the prospect know that you are a real person.

When speaking with the person, DO NOT try to sell them, but ask them questions to get a “feel” for who they are and what they are like.

Look for reasons why you may NOT want to work with the person.

The prospect will be influenced by this attitude of yours and be attracted to you because you are conducting yourself like a leader, not like someone desperate to make a sale.

The important point to remember is this: sponsoring the wrong people in network marketing costs you time and money!

2. Only give your contact information to people you get a good “feel” from.

Direct the prospect to a business overview page, or a recorded call.

Don’t chase them, let them come to you.

Remember, the individual is already in your marketing pipeline, having come through your lead capture page and being subscribed to your autoresponder, so they will be receiving marketing messages from you.

3. When they do call you:

Answer their questions in a friendly manner.

Other than that, remain silent.

By remaining silent and not asking the prospect to get started, this forces the prospect to keep the conversation going and fill those “awkward” quiet spots, often with questions like, “So, how can I get started?”
